Norwich, CT – CMEEC Director Elected as President of Regional Trade Association
Justin Connell, Director of Sustainability & Services at the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative (“CMEEC”), has been elected to serve as the President of the Board of Directors for a regional public power advocacy organization.
Connell will serve as the President of the board of directors for the Northeast Public Power Association (“NEPPA”) (https://www.neppa.org/), which represents not-for-profit, community- owned utilities that power nearly 100 towns and cities in the northeast. Connell was elected earlier this
week during NEPPA’s Annual Business Meeting. In accepting this role, Mr. Connell noted that “CMEEC has a long history of working cooperatively with NEPPA, and I’m honored and humbled to be taking our partnership to the next level by serving on the board of directors in a leadership capacity.”
NEPPA board members are chosen to represent the six states across New England. Connell’s election as President of the NEPPA board is just one way CMEEC and its leadership have been at the forefront of public power advocacy at the regional and national level. CMEEC coordinates and participates
actively with NEPPA to advocate for public power interests with legislators and within the wholesale power markets to ensure the success of public power communities and ratepayers throughout
the region.
Dave Meisinger, CMEEC Chief Executive Officer, added that “Justin has a long history of working on behalf of CMEEC’s members as well as public power stakeholders throughout New England. We are excited to see Justin take this leadership position on the NEPPA board.”
CMEEC’s member municipal electric utilities include the Jewett City Department of Public Utilities, Norwich Public Utilities, Groton Utilities, Bozrah Light & Power, Third Taxing District of the City ofNorwalk and South Norwalk Electric and Water.
