CMEEC is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of three officials from each member utility, 2 representing the Member Electric Utility or its Utility Commission, and one Municipal Ratepayer Representative representing the Municipality in which the Municipal Electric Utility resides. Twelve voting Board members are individually appointed by their respective municipal utility commissions.

The Board of Directors makes policy decisions, approves agency power supply programs, adopts budgets and rates and makes final decisions for CMEEC’s involvement in power projects. The Board authorizes employment of a professional staff led by CMEEC’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Board elects officers annually for one-year terms. All Board members serve on one or more of the following committees: Legislative and Governmental Affairs, Audit, Budget & Finance, Compensation, Risk Management, and Governance. The Board meets monthly, typically at the CMEEC office on the fourth Thursday of the month (rescheduled on holidays).
